Advent and Christmas Services and Events
How many sleeps until Christmas?
We’ve seen the Crib scenes and Nativity plays so many times as they portray or retell the Christmas Story. However what we celebrate is so much more than just a story. The events of the first Christmas are filled with hope, faith and love. We see God’s hope for us as the Angel Gabriel tells Mary that she will call her son Jesus – he who saves. We see God the Father’s faith in the Son that He will be able to bring hope into a hopeless world and how much do we need to hear that message at the moment. We see God’s love wrapped in bands of cloth, cradled in His mother’s arms .
Most of us are familiar with probably the best-known statue in the world, Christ the Redeemer, towering over Rio de Janeiro, His arms outstretched in blessing. Christmas celebrates the birth of that great Redeemer – a tiny baby laid in a feeding trough. His birth changed history, His life transformed our understanding of what it means to be human, His death was at one and the same time a tragedy and a triumph.
Come along to one of our Advent and Christmas Services to find out more about ‘the most beautiful story ever told’ and enjoy it again this Christmas.
With Many Blessings
Fr David
At this special service expect beautiful music, readings and reflections to start of our journey towards Christmas
This service is at the heart of our Christmas celebration.
A traditional service with nine bible lessons and nine carols to remind us that God came to us in the baby Jesus.
This service is a joyful celebration of Christingle and the end of the “posada”
Christingle – the celebrations are named after the Christingles that are lit during the ceremony. Christingles are oranges wrapped in red tape, decorated with dried fruit or sweets, with a candle on the top.
Posada - Our statues of Mary and Joseph have been on a journey round the village seeking shelter during Advent and we look forward to welcoming them to the church.
At this service we take a collection in aid of the Children’s Society

This is a special service held late on Christmas Eve, and as such is the first communion service of the Christmas season.
By having a service at this time we are sharing in the anticipation of the joy of Christmas and celebrating its message of good news by stepping outside our usual tradition of daytime services.
We are excited to welcome you all to this Christmas Day family service to give thanks amidst the joy and business of Christmas Day.
At Epiphany we celebrate the arrival of the wise men or “Magi” who brought gifts to the baby Jesus.
Please come dressed as a Magi as we will be adding our statues to our nativity scene during the service.
